A reminder:  August 2 is National Night Out!

National Night Out events are fun and friendly community parties that are held annually, around Los Angeles and across the country, on the first Tuesday of August. People come to National Night Out events in order to enjoy the company of friends and neighbors, meet new friends, and celebrate public safety while thanking the police officers and firefighters who are honored guests. Tuesday, August 2, is when this year's National Night Out festivities are occurring, and we are proud to say that we have two such gatherings of special significance to 5th District constituents:

One of the biggest National Night Out efforts will be held at the Poinsettia Park Recreation Center in Poinsettia Park from 6-8pm, thanks to the tremendous leadership and resolve of Melrose Action Neighborhood Watch, which time and again has made this particular event not just possible but a great success.

If you want to take part in a National Night Out event in the San Fernando Valley, a splendid option is to head over to Randall D. Simmons Park in Reseda, next to the West Valley Community Police Station which serves the 5th District community of Encino as well as Lake Balboa, Reseda and Tarzana. You can greet and applaud LAPD Senior Lead Officers and Commanders, and then sit back and watch Kung Fu Panda 3.
