Eye on the Tenth
October 7, 2016

Dear friends,

Join me in thanking all of the volunteers who came out to our RFK Community Schools Neighborhood Clean-up last weekend. Students and non-profit volunteers joined us bright and early to beautify the neighborhood.

Our teams filled multiple dumpsters with litter between Vermont Avenue and Irolo Street. Thank you for working with us to make our district a more beautiful place to live.

It is always wonderful to see our community come together to make Los Angeles a better city for everyone. For dates and location of future community clean-ups, please see the Upcoming Events  section listed at the end this issue.

LAPD Hosts API Forum on Homelessness

On September 29, the Olympic Division Community Police Station of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) hosted an Asian Pacific Islander Forum open to the community addressing the homelessness issue citywide.

The forum was an opportunity to hear from LAPD officers, city departments, and non-profit organizations about health care, social services, and other services available to the homeless.

City Council Unanimously Authorizes Next Round of Olympic Bidding

Last week, City Council President Herb Wesson and the Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to authorize LA 2024’s guarantees and approve the Joint Marketing Programme Agreement with the United States Olympic Committee that will be included in Los Angeles’ Candidature File Part 2.

“The Los Angeles City Council [vote] reiterated our strong support for the LA 2024 Olympic and Paralympic bid, which relies on existing world-class venues, housing and transportation infrastructure to reduce risks and costs,” Wesson said.

“With our partnership with LA 2024, Los Angeles is ready to grow the Olympic Movement and bring the Games back to the City of Angels.”
