Dear Friends,

As our great City continues to grow, our communities see the impacts. Navigating our streets can be challenging especially during peak hours this is why I funded a few traffic officers to help direct traffic at some of the busiest intersections in our District.

This is a pilot program run by the Department of Transportation (DOT). For the next three months, to help with traffic congestion, you’ll see an officer during the evening commute on Mulholland Drive at Beverly Glen, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

On Tuesdays and Thursdays, an officer will be located at Mulholland Drive and Nicada Drive during the evening commute.

Five days a week, in Encino, please be aware of the officer at Sepulveda Boulevard and Ventura Boulevard during the morning hours.

After the pilot program ends, DOT will analyze whether commute times changed and therefore offer recommendations moving forward.

With this relief, I believe the time you spend in your car, getting to and from home, will decrease significantly.

In fact, I’ve already received a number of emails and calls from community members praising the program.

From Robert Ringler, Resident of Beverly Glen:
“The traffic officers are a welcome relief to what can be a frustrating commute. Popular smart phone applications have turned our streets into major cut-through. The officer has already proven to be a smart solution as my drive times have significantly reduced. Thank you to Councilmember Koretz for taking the initiative to help out our communities.”

Please keep an eye out for our officers and as always be safe.
