Dear Friends,

I would like to take a moment to honor and reflect on the purpose of this important holiday. Memorial Day is a day to remember those who died while serving in the American Armed Forces. As Americans, we are touched by people in our own lives -- friends, family members and ancestors -- who gave their lives to defend the rights that we cherish and fight to preserve.

To those who have made the ultimate sacrifice while wearing the uniform of this country, and to their families and loved ones, we give our undying thanks, and so we memorialize their contributions and heroism.  We also honor your bravery and patriotism.

As we head into a Memorial Day weekend, please remember that Los Angeles offers a wide variety of relaxing ways to take advantage of the well-deserved break from the work grind including street festivals, hiking our beautiful mountains or a day at the beach.

One way you might consider observing this Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th is by attending the Los Angeles National Cemetery, 250 N Sepulveda Blvd. They will hold a traditional patriotic Memorial Day public event from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. that will include the 300th Army Band, the mounted New Buffalo Soldiers and words from Congressman Ted Lieu.

Mulholland Drive Closure for Resurfacing
Postponed Until Saturday, June 3rd

The City's Resurfacing Division has postponed resurfacing of Mulholland Drive from Nicada Drive to Beverly Glen until next Saturday June 3rd, 2017.

We have just been informed that LADWP needs to provide a water service line to a homeowner on Mulholland. LADWP is coming in tomorrow at our request to connect the property so that the road can be repaved next Saturday. LADWP will have flagmen out on site tomorrow with a one lane closure. Traffic will also be routed to Nicada Drive and Beverly Glen. The working hours for LADWP is 8:00am - 4:00pm.

We understand that this is an inconvenience to drivers and we are truly sorry. We hope you can also help us spread the word to the community. Thank you for your time and feel free to contact our valley office for additional information 818-971-3088 or the resurfacing division 818-756-8651.
Warmest Regards,

Paul Koretz
Council Member - 5th District
