OWIT Update
Lilia Navarrete, from the Los Angeles Chapter and WIT-LA Representative to OWIT, has transitioned to Chairman of the Board for The Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) of which WIT-LA is a chapter. Ania Jakubowski, from Geneva, is now President of OWIT.

After 2 years of serving as President and CEO and a prior year as Executive Vice President and spreading the news about WIT-LA’s mission and efforts as well as OWIT’s, at such highly visible and important international events such as APEC, Lilia will continue to volunteer her time to WIT-LA in her 9th year on the WIT-LA Board of Directors. The purpose of being represented on the OWIT Executive Committee is for WIT-LA to participate in one of the largest global trade organizations in the world and ensure WIT-LA has a voice in this forum.

Within the past year, she has represented WIT-LA/OWIT at events in Chicago, Monterrey Mexico, Toronto Canada, and Peru. During her tenure, Lilia has also forged ties with other global organizations around the world and has shared the importance of WIT-LA in the international trade community of the greater Los Angeles Area. The thrust of these relationships has been to promote capacity building across organizations to continue to empower women leaders worldwide.

OWIT’s next Board of Director’s meeting will be held in Toronto, Canada, April 23-24, 2009.
