5th Annual Mixer Toy Drive

Ray Andonian of the Venetian Palace in Reseda hosted the 5th Annual Mixer Toy Drive on Wednesday night November 30th this event is always well supported by the Woodland Hills~Tarzana Chamber of Commerce.

Wallking in to the elegant banquet hall was reminiscent of being at a luxurious affair. Chamber members were greeted at the parking lot with Venetian Palace Catering of Barbecue Grills and the smell of Tri-Tip and Oak Firewood smoke filled air.Besides the more than a mouthful Tri-tip sliders the buffet table had salad, mixed vegetables, spaghetti with marinara, and chicken marsala.  Great news for hungry appetites… Bad news for the “Holiday Spread”.

The table quickly filled with a variety of toys, games, stuffed animals staring out at the assembled crowd of networkers. Imagine the smiling faces of the children receiving these donations.

Everyone benefited from getting together with Chamber friends and the opportunities to meet new ones.  The children in attendance made us smile. The donations of toys will bring smiles to the children that receive them. Christmas will be brightened for the Children of local community organizations such as PALS and Penny Lane.  Thank you, Ray for your continued efforts in giving the community the opportunity to give this holiday season. The Woodland Hills-Tarzana Chamber of Commerce assisted Councilman Dennis P. Zine, Tarzana Community Cultural Center, and Revitalize Reseda in Valley food drives.

We collected over 12 apple boxes of food through our members' generosity. Annual food bank drive to benefit two local food pantries in Council District #3 for the holiday season. Tarzana Community Cultural, Village Walk and Chamber events served as collection points. Thanks to all!

Our Tarzana neighbors at yesterday's "Business Lunch on the Boulevard". Vintage car, historic Tarzana Community & Cultural Center setting, tasty lunch catered by Safir Restaurant "The Best Mediterranean Food in Town", wonderful array of Silent Auction fundraising gifts donated by area merchants, food drive, and great networking with new contacts, and sharing the Holiday Spirit with Chamber members... do you need any other benefits for attending Woodland Hills Tarzana Chamber of Commerce events? Toy Drives Benefitting West Valley PALS, Haven Hills, Penny Lane and other valley charities. Here's just some of the activity that went into collecting over 300 toys for children of our local community. Two Toy Drives have already been hosted by Ray Andonian of Venetian Palace and American Legion Hall in Reseda also partnering with Revitalize Reseda.

An Article from Weekly Update from Councilman Zine
Toy Drive for Kids that took place at the American Legion Hall #308 in Reseda, CA, on December 13th.
Everyone Wins At Revitalize Reseda Toy Drive Event at Post #308
When you look up the word "revitalize" in the dictionary, either online or in an actual book, youll find definitions like: to imbue (something) with new life and vitality as in, "to revitalize the economy". Synonyms for the word include: revive, enliven, animate and resuscitate. When you combine the word with the community of Reseda, as in Revitalize Reseda, and include the energy of its architect, Nancy Sweeney, you begin to realize that a more aptly named non-profit and associated director there might never have been.

With an eclectic crowd in excess of 100 people (including several Democracy by D-Zine interns thrown in for good measure) and well over 200 donated toys, Nancy Sweeney once again demonstrated her commitment to the children and community of Reseda, especially during a time when the area and constituents need it most - the holiday season. In the words of Walt Sweeney, the other fast-talking, extremely energetic half of the Revitalize Reseda equation, "Nancy never does anything half-baked."

With several tables chock full of Legos and Barbies in the background earmarked for the families of active duty military, Councilman Dennis P. Zine echoed the above sentiments by reminding the attendees that Revitalize Reseda does these types of things all the time, i.e., the Food Drive over Thanksgiving, the Reseda Resource Fair, etc., and not just when people are looking. He also took the time to acknowledge the presence of the respected Woodland Hills~Tarzana Chamber of Commerce for their inter-community support of the project.

Thank you to our 2011 Leaders whose Generous Donations made it possible for us to accomplish so much for our members in 2011!
